In a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 1 Cor 15:52
It is interesting to watch as players line the sidelines of the softball field and warm up and prepare for the game to come. There is great anticipation as they all long for that moment that they greatly anticipate – the moment they hear, “Play Ball.” One little moment and everything changes from warm up to reality.
I know the above passage is referencing the resurrection and the coming of our Lord. Yet, I also know that it can apply to our lives as well. I was reminded again recently of how quickly life can change and how quickly life on this earth can end. I was reminded that in life, there is no warm up. This is it and we need to live our lives in anticipation of that moment when the Lord will call us home. It may be in the rapture or it may be as this life ends for individuals but we must be ready.
I had a dear friend that was 26 years old and was called home to be with her Lord recently. I am glad to say that she was ready, prepared and longing for home. I could not help but wonder, though, how many others are ready? If this had been you, would you have been ready? There is a “twinkling of a moment” awaiting all of us. There is no warm up. Let us be ready today.
DC Talk had a song in the late ‘90’s called, “I Wish We’d All Been Ready.” I have a different wish today. I don’t want to look back and wish we’d all been ready. I would rather look forward and say, “Why Can’t we all be ready?” Are you ready today?
If I can help in any way to prepare your heart for that moment, please call or email me. I would love to chat with you. The twinkling of an eye moment is coming – I hope we will all be ready.
